Sebastian grows up in Hanover. Raised by a single mother, he learns from an early age to fend for himself. As a teenager, he falls in love with the young Betty and discovers a very different kind of family, whose warmth and stability deeply attract him. But before long, tensions arise between him and the two worlds that shape his life. As he grows into adulthood, he is forced to confront what remains of childhood dreams once reality sets in.
Spanning three stages of his life, the film follows a young man on his journey to finding himself.
